For a while I’ve been curious about the Fediverse, but haven’t made the time to explore it. I’m going to try and add some Fediverse interoperability to this site and see where it takes me 😁 While I was setting up webmentions for this site I saw a lot of chatter about https://fed.brid.gy/ and although I think that working with Bridgy will mean giving up some amount data sovereignty, I think it’d be nice to dip my toes into the Fediverse without having to do all the work of setting up an ActivityPub server, web finger, et al without knowing it’ll be worth it 😅

I’ve done a lot of work to this site since my last post. First and foremost, I got Webmentions setup 🎉🎊🕺. I’ve documented the step-by-step setup in the repo already, so I won’t repeat it here but I thought it would be fun to record who helped me out (and send them webmentions 😜).

After my last post I tried to reincept this site using Hexo rather than Hugo.

But 2022 turned out to be a pretty busy year 😅

Despite the enthusiasm of my previous post I havn’t posted in a while.

Initially this was due to laziness, but for at least the last few months this has been due to a technical issue – I can’t build the site to publish new content.

Some folks asked me why I decided to use a static site generator (Hugo) even though I make software (including websites) professionally.

At first pass it might seem like a good idea – why not take this opportunity to show off my web dev skillz.
